Consumer prices increased by just 0.1% in March have pushed the Federal Reserve to keep interest rate at record lows. The retail sales jumped by 1.6% the previous month. The economists had forecasted a 1.3% growth. The much hype in car sales have driven the retail sales a boost more than expected but still, apart from the automotive sectors, other sectors have also been doing well.

Clothing stores saw a 2.3% increase in sales and there was 6.7% increase in the car and spare parts sector. Excluding car sector, all other sectors rose by 0.6% in retail sales. Food and beverage stores marked an increase in sales by 0.2%, bars and restaurants by 0.3%, general merchandise stores by 0.6% and health and personal care stores by 0.2%.

The market saw oil traded at 47 cents higher at $84.37 a barrel. The steady increase in manufacturing industry in China, India and Asia has also strengthened the view that the global economy is fast recovering.

Saudi Arabia has released the official selling prices of crude oil over the weekend. The stronger discounts on the Saudi crude oil should increase its demand that its rival Russian Ural crude. The Russian Ural crude were sold at the lowest price since 2008 recently.

The Obama’s administration had taken their best efforts to bring the situation under control.
