Apple gets right to the Dock!

Apple has obtained a patent for the popular shortcut bar for its operating systems, installed from Mac OS X 10.0. The U.S. agency responsible for registering trademarks and patents (United States Patent and Trademark Office) has granted a patent for the Dock after nine years of long wait.

The Dock, as we know it first appeared in 2000 in previous versions of Mac OS X. Earlier in 1997 the company Acorn Computers and marketed its clone Macs with a bar of icons and that could be considered as one of its earlier ancestors.

Subsequently copied in Windows and Linux systems, this bar has become an institution in Apple operating systems for its power and functionality in addition to its popularity among users, offering a quite original style and efficiency in ordering the directory of most used items.
